In my previous blog post I told you about playing at an old friends wedding this weekend.
Well I that yesterday was one of the happiest weddings, either as a guest or playing for, that I have ever had the good fortune to be part of.
I was asked to play at the wedding reception, so as I was walking down the side of the church to set up in the back garden, I could hear singing from inside. Pretty standard activity you would think, until I realised that ‘Crazy little thing called love’ and ‘Walking on sunshine’ are not found in any hymn books that I have come across before.
Apparently some of the congregation had performed a flash mob at the end of the service for the happy couple, which was a great success. You have got to love people with an imagination.
I started off playing in the garden, which was lovely with the good weather. I threw in ‘Crazy little thing called love’ and everyone joined in singing. What a way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
We moved inside when it was time to eat. I think the food had be organised by friends and members of the church. They had a very nice afternoon tea party with proper China cups and saucers, cake stands and teapots on each table. The hall had been transformed into a splendid wedding reception hall and everyone concerned with the decoration and food production should be very proud of their hard work.
A nice touch was having a master of ceremonies, who I think was a friend of the bride and groom. He had a great sense of humour and made the afternoon run like clockwork.
All in all it was a really great day, and a pleasure and privilege to be part of.
Thanks again Graham and Rosie for asking me.
Best wishes for the future together.
