Hi Folks

Things have been a little bit quiet recently as far as the workshops have been concerned.  But we are now back and ready to Rock n Roll with our Annual Christmas workshop, Which is normally our best attended one anyway.

We have got all the normal activities planned for you, Large ensemble and Jazz improvisation sessions, but we have listened to the feedback we have had and are pleased to announce that for those that dont fancy improvising, there will be a second ensemble session in the afternoon, along side the Jazz in the main hall.  Because of this change, we are opening the doors to 30 players this year instead of the normal 20.

We have kept the cost at £30 per person again for another year.

The day is open to anyone aged 11 or over who has been playing for at least a year.

All the details of dates and times and venue are on the attached flyer.  We would ask that you spread this article far and wide so that we can generate loads of interest.

Contact details are email: or via this post.

We are looking forward to seeing you there

April appears to be the start of the wedding season, with 2 booked. Sunday the 5ths Wedding  is taking place at Dodford Manor in Northamptonshire . This looks a lovely place to get married, they even offer tractor rides for the bride and groom. I wonder if I could sneak a ride on the back whilst playing, now that would be a good picture for the website.

The second one is for the 25th of April and this one is at Barchill Retreat at Welford in Leicestershire. This is a farm that specialises in Humanist weddings and hopefully this will be in a marquee in the middle of the farm. Yet again another venue with stunning views.

i have also been asked to play at another 2 weddings in April but as the dates clash with those above, I have had to decline.

We are also running our next StaxofSax saxophone workshop in Leicester on the 10th of April, full details are on our StaxofSax facebook page if you are Interested in joining us.

Plus I am working on a batch of new songs to add to the repertoire for the forth coming events.

So life is good and long may it continue.

This weekend I am playing at the Quorn Grange hotel for a wedding reception on Saturday evening. I have been asked to play Baker Street as a special request by the brides mum, this is the first time I have played it.  Even though it is a saxophone classic, it’s just a tune that I have never played before.

Sunday, has me joining the guys from Folk Foundasian playing at our first wedding fair.  We are at ‘The Spinney’ wedding venue in Leicester.  There is a fashion show and about 100 hundred other wedding related stalls at this event. (11am to 6pm) Why not pop down and see us?

I am really looking forward to getting kick started after the Christmas and New Year break.

Have a look at Folk Foundasian Sax Trio on youtube to see what we do.

Have a great week

22 sax players of all shapes and sizes, from curved and straight Sopranos right down to our very first Bass sax had a great day of making music yesterday.

We should have 26, which would have been our biggest event yet, but the seasonal plagues took their toll on four players. Hopefully they will be able to join us on the next one.

If you check out our Staxofsax Saxophone workshop page you will find that one of our regular attendees, Mandy, has posted some recordings, including the initial playing of ‘Lady Marmalade and the final playing of the arrangement.

Have a listen to the improvisation recording and bear in mind that at least for of the players had never improvised before.  So well done to them.

An extra thank you should go to Mandy for bringing along enough cupcakes with saxophone decorations on for everyone to enjoy with their lunch.

Keep an eye out for the next event which will hopefully be at easter.

Hi Folks

I just wanted to let you know about the Christmas StaxofSax saxophone workshop on Tuesday the 30th December 2014 at the Leicester South Salvation Army Hall.

Full detail can be found on the link below, please help us to make the day fun and enjoyable by spreading the word amongst your saxophone playing friends.

We will be playing an arrangement especially commissioned for the day in the large ensemble session and then working on your improvisation skills during the afternoon (beginner friendly session)

Its got to be better than being sat in front of the TV watching ‘The Great Escape for the umpteenth time, or a good excuse to loose the relatives for the day.  Its also a great opportunity to show off any saxophone related gadgets and toys that Santa may have brought you.

Come and join us for a great days music making in a fun and friendly atmosphere.

To book or chat call 07736 471861 or email

Please feel free to pass the flyer on to as many people as you can.

Look forward to hearing from you

Hi Folks

first of all just a short update on what has been happening in my world over the last few weeks.

The site has been very quiet recently due to me being busy with gigs, rehearsals, students taking their grades etc so my apologies for the lack of articles and pics.

I am on holiday at the moment, in the glorious Isle of Wight, so this is a good opportunity to do some catching up.

This is the view from my window as I type.  Lots of articles to follow over the next couple of days, so please keep an eye out for them.

Best wishes
