Count Basie is probably my favourite big band leader and yesterday, whilst wearing one of my other hats I had the pleasure of conducting the Sandown and Shanklin Military band in an arrangement of Count Basie tunes called Count Basie Salute, arranged by John Higgins.

It comprises ‘April in Paris, ‘Lil Darling’ and Jumping at the Woodside.

This was our last Christmas concert for this year at All Saints Church in Freshwater and the video is posted on the bands facebook page, with lots of others from this and previous concerts.

The Videographer is our very own Les Gladdis who has kindly given me permission to share this with you.

Hope you enjoy it.

Dave

I’m looking forward to playing for the guests at the Gouldings Resource Centre in Freshwater on Monday.

It is their Christmas party and they have very kindly asked me to stay for dinner, it would be very rude to refuse wouldn’t it????

This is the fourth time I have played here and they are a great bunch, who really know how to have fun.

So, the Santa hat has been brushed, and the Christmas shirt has been ironed, Song sheets printed, so all that’s left is a final run through the tunes tomorrow.

See you all Monday.

Dave

Friday was spent at the Gouldings centre in Freshwater on the Isle of Wight.

The clients there certainly enjoy a good sing along and make the contestants on Strictly come dancing look like amateurs .

The feed back was great and I hope to see you all soon.

Ps. The coconut cake was delicious. 👍

I am in the middle of putting together a mini musical tour from the 15th to the 18th of February 2018.

Confirmed gigs are at the Isle of Wight Leonard Cheshire home, The Gouldings Care Home in Freshwater and Byrnhill Grove Care Home in Ventnor, and I am awaiting confirmation of a possible fourth gig.   This is one of my favourite type of  gigs to play at, lots of singing and joining in and loads of smiling faces.  What more could I ask for?

If anyone is looking for some musical entertainment over these dates, there is still plenty of space for you, so why not get in touch.

thanks

Dave
