This is the time of year when couples start to plan and book for their weddings, and to confirm this I have 4 weddings shows booked to exhibit at in February.

One of the difficulties that couples have, is not knowing what to ask suppliers when they are discussing their wedding.

So I have put together a document relating to the music side of the big day. This should give you a good idea of the things that you should be thinking about, and to discuss with your other half before talking to the musicians about your big day.

If you can think of anything else that should be added to the list, please let me know and I will add it for other couples.

Thanks you for taking the time to read this.

Last Saturday was the first event of any kind that I have been able to play at this year. What made it even more special was it was a Wedding. I love playing at Weddings, everyone is happy to be there and dressed in their finery, and just wanting to have a good time with the happy couple.

The Wedding of Emily and Kalon took place on a beautiful spring day at the Apple Farm at East Afton, on the Isle of Wight. It was my first time playing there and the gentleman running the venue could not have been more helpful.

With the restrictions still in place the wedding party was just 15 strong, but I thought it lead to a lovely relaxed atmosphere.

With a couple of new tunes requested by the couple I played to entertain the guests and for the ceremony before they retired to the reception at the same venue.

Below are some pictures of the venue, including an unusual one of the sink in the Gents toilets, I love the use of the Dustbin lid. It just made me smile.

Thank you Emily and Kalon for asking me to be part of your special day, and best wishes for your life together.

We moved to Shanklin on the beautiful Isle of Wight just on 2 years ago, and we love it.

We have been made welcome by everyone we meet.

So, having finished recording Lewis Capaldis song ‘Someone you Loved’ I thought it would be nice to use some of the many pictures and videos we have taken of this side of the Island.

I hope you like the video and if you do please give it a thumbs up and subscribe to help get my music out there.

If you have anything happening that would benefit from live music, then feel free to get in touch.

Many thanks

Dave

2 points that need updating:

point 1: 11 out of a maximum 15 spaces have been booked already-yehaa!!!!

point 2: Nick Hislam has agreed to travel all the way from Wales to lead the Improvisation session and help with the rest of the day as well.

Nick has run the improvisation class for the last 8 or 9 years, and is my go to guy for this. He is a great saxophonist with a tone to die for, and a teaching style that everyone understands.

So if you have been procrastinating or even just thinking about whether you should book a place on the workshop, here is another reason to just book it now.

You know its the right thing to do!

thanks for looking.

Well as you can see there has not been a lot of activity on my website for a long time.  There are genuine reasons for that, including, Moving house, Work, Renovating the new house, lots of gigs,  rebuilding my business, taking on new students and starting to do some work with Daniel Christian of SaxCasts.com.  So, pretty hectic, but now I’ve used those excuses, I won’t be able to use them again!!

Anyway,  I am planning on adding quite a bit more content on here, going forward.

I will be putting up some short posts in a minute, and would be happy for any feedback or questions you may have.

Thanks for sticking with me, and hope to speak to as many as I can soon.

Best wishes

Dave

A beautiful venue for a wedding reception. The hotel have laid on garden games to entertain the guests, including Space hopper racing and a coconut shy to name but two.

I’m all prepared and ready to play for the drinks reception outside and found myself a nice shaded spot for it too.

Best wishes for your future together goes to the bride and groom.

What do you do if your school that you normally teach at on a Friday, emails you and say it’s a ‘snow day’?

Well, after 5 seconds of thinking, you decide to bring your weekend plans forward.

After a fairly sedate drive to Southampton, we boarded the ferry for East Cowes 9 hours earlier than planned. Yehaa.

we are now sitting in our hotel lounge overlooking Sandown beach and enjoying a cuppa.

Tomorrow I am entertaining the residents of Victoria House in Ryde, and Sunday, I am exhibiting at the Ventnor Botanical gardens Wedding Fayre.

so an extra few hours enjoying our home from home is greatly appreciated.
