Easter Sunday saw me loading the car for a drive out to Dodford Manor in Northamptonshire. This was not a social trip but I had been asked to play at the wedding of Becky and Daniel.

The Weddings at Dodford Manor are held in a beautifully restored brick barn with all mod cons, also but with lots of  character.

The weather stayed fine for the couple and after the service I played for the guests entertainment whilst they had a drink and a catchup before the reception.

I would like to say thanks to the Grooms mum for the action shot photo, the rest I took with my phone.  I certainly enjoyed my self and with some of the guests having a bit of a dance and with loads of lovely comments, I believe the family and guests did too.

If you are looking for a wedding venue in the Northamptonshire area,

then Dodford Manor is Certainly worth visiting.

The weather on the 19th of July was not good!  In fact it was chucking it down all morning.  However the ladies of the Soroptomist International society obviously had friends in high places, because 30 minutes before the start of their fund raising garden fete, the clouds parted and the sun shone.  It shone so much in fact, that I had to go and get my hat or risk been fried.

The Soroptomists are a ladies organisation that raise money for women’s projects all over the world, they have 3000 clubs worldwide.

I had been asked to play for the garden Fete as they are raising funds for a maternity and child care unit in the Gambia.  It was a typical fete with Hook a Duck,  Book stalls, etc and of course the compulsory tea and cake tent (guaranteed money maker!).

The weather staid bright and sunny for the rest of the afternoon so hopefully a great deal of funds were raised for a very worthy cause.

I spoke to quite a few people during the afternoon and have been booked to play at a wedding in January and maybe another event in May.

Many thanks to Jacqueline for asking me and please let me know if you need me again.

I Think this must be the summer for Garden Parties as I have taken bookings for 2 in 2 weeks.  I love this type of gig as they are nice and relaxed and I get to meet some really nice people into the bargain.  Its not a bad way at all to make a living is it.

In 2012 I was asked to play at a charity concert to raise much needed funds for the Alzheimer’s charity. The concert was organised by  a gentleman I met whilst busking, and he puts these events on every 2 years.

He rang yesterday and asked me to play again, this time to raise money for Prostate Cancer funds.  I of course, agreed to join in the fun and play a few tunes.   So if you are around the Braunstone Working mens club in Leicester on Saturday the 8th November at 8pm, why not come and say hi and help raise some money for a very worthwhile cause.

Saturday the 15th March 2014 was the RRWT charity ball at Ardencote Manor Hotel in Claverdon.  I had been invited to provide the music both at the before dinner drinks and during the meal.ardencote

The Hotel is also renown for its Spa  as well as its rooms and conference facilities and has stunning views and grounds.

The evening started with drinks in the bar and the chance to have photographs taken by  Chris of  http://www.codsallphotographic.com.

Once dinner was announced, we all moved into the dinning room, where I played a range of music from Frank Sinatra to Coldplay via Ella Fitzgerald and Chuck Berry.

The dinner was followed by an silent auction to raise much needed funds for the charity and the evening finished with a disco until after Midnight.

From the very kind compliments paid, I think a good evening was had by one and all plus some good fund raising for a very worthwhile cause.

Thank you so much, everyone was very impressed that you played for so long, lots of very positive comments, so a huge success”

Annabelle, Welfare Coordinator.
