The weather on the 19th of July was not good! In fact it was chucking it down all morning. However the ladies of the Soroptomist International society obviously had friends in high places, because 30 minutes before the start of their fund raising garden fete, the clouds parted and the sun shone. It shone so much in fact, that I had to go and get my hat or risk been fried.
The Soroptomists are a ladies organisation that raise money for women’s projects all over the world, they have 3000 clubs worldwide.
I had been asked to play for the garden Fete as they are raising funds for a maternity and child care unit in the Gambia. It was a typical fete with Hook a Duck, Book stalls, etc and of course the compulsory tea and cake tent (guaranteed money maker!).
The weather staid bright and sunny for the rest of the afternoon so hopefully a great deal of funds were raised for a very worthy cause.
I spoke to quite a few people during the afternoon and have been booked to play at a wedding in January and maybe another event in May.
Many thanks to Jacqueline for asking me and please let me know if you need me again.
