So Whats Next?

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas, but it’s now time to look to the New Year.

what is 2023 bringing for you?

Have you got engaged? Christmas is the most popular time to get engaged. Maybe planning a party or decided that it’s time you took up a new musical hobby. Loads of saxophones bought for Christmas.

Well, I can help you with all of these things. I could provide the live music for your wedding or party, or help with learning to play the saxophone. Lessons can be face to face or via video link.

If you would like to talk about any of these or any other plans you have, drop me a message either in the comments below or via email at dave.saxteach@yahoo.co.uk

Have a brilliant New Year

Best wishes

Dave

In January this year, I was approached by a chap called Daniel Christian.  He runs a YouTube channel called SaxCasts and a FaceBook group called Learning Saxophone.  He was looking for some assistance with the FaceBook group and wondered if I would be interested in running a Weekly Q and A live video on Sunday evenings ( 8pm UK time).

It sounded like fun so with a bit of help on the technology side, off I went.  We have about 30 or so members join us each week from various parts of the globe and they will post questions during the week.  Ranging from anything sax related to performance nerves and music theory.

I do my best to answer them, or point them in the right direction.  During the session we also get questions asked live.  The videos are then posted to the page for those that want to watch later.

Sometimes I prepare worksheets for certain sublects and they are added to the file section of the page for members to access.

Members will post progress videos and ask for feedback and we run challenges with the aim of promoting learning.

In January we had 350 members, we are now at over 1400 and growing by at least 10 a day.

This is a very friendly group and no nastiness is tolerated.  Why not pop on over and join us, it would be great to see you on there.

Yesterday was a lovely day for a Wedding,  and Leanne and Marc had theirs at Goosedale in Nottingham. The weather was good and everyone seemed to have a good time.

I was asked to play for both the ceremony and drinks reception yesterday, including tunes that are special to the bride and groom.  I especially liked the slower version of ‘Ain’t Nobody’ by Jasmine Thompson and will using that one on a regular basis.

Thanks for asking me to be part of your big day Leanne and Marc and best wishes for your future together

2017 had got off to a great start.

I have taken bookings for 2 weddings this week, the first is in Derby at the Roundhouse and I will be playing with the Folk Foundasian Sax trio. The 2nd is at Barton Court nr Malvern in October as a solo act.  Barton court is a lovely old House that I discovered at the end of last year, whilst playing at a wedding fayre there.

This Saturday is a full day rehearsal with Folk Foundasian working on a ton of new songs.  Both Bollywood and western tunes are on the agenda, so should be fun.

If there are any weddings or events that you think I may be able to help at, then please get in touch for a chat.

Best wishes

December has me booked to played at a Christmas party at Hendon Grange in Leicester and On Boxing Day I am playing at the Ramada Leicester Stage Hotel for a 1920s Christmas dinner, so not only good food but good music too.

There is also the usual School Carol Concerts to play at. Plus my woodwind ensemble are working hard to perfect Sleigh ride by Leroy Anderson, to be played at Oakham Church.

I will also be entertaining the residents at Sibbertoft Manor Residential Home (the only residential home that has a putting green for them to use!) for a Christmas singalong.

The 29th of DEcember is also the StaxofSax Christmas Saxophone Workshop in Leicester, If any of you players fancy joining us, then please get in touch at staxofsax@gmail.co., it would be great to see you.

A fairly busy month, but still space for a wedding or party or 2, so if you think I can help then please get in touch.

Best wishes

Sunday the 27th Of November was the inaugral Wedding Fayre at Barton Court in the beautiful county of Herefordshire.

It was a bright and chilly morning as all the suppliers started to arrive and James and Linda, the new owners, showed us around their beautiful house before we set up.

There was loads of choice for all of the prospective brides and groom to look at and listen too, with a singing Duo, a covers band, a classical guitarist and myself playing saxophone.

We were all in different parts of the house so no one interupted anyone else, and we all had a great day speaking to couples about what they would like for their wedding day.

This is a lovely quirky venue to consider for your wedding, with very accomdating owners to help you make the best of your special day.

All you need now is a saxophonist to provide the musical ambience to make it perfect?

The Stables Bar, Barton Court.
