A beautiful venue for a wedding reception. The hotel have laid on garden games to entertain the guests, including Space hopper racing and a coconut shy to name but two.

I’m all prepared and ready to play for the drinks reception outside and found myself a nice shaded spot for it too.

Best wishes for your future together goes to the bride and groom.

Last weekend was the date for Mark and Judy to tie the knot at Lisle Combe, St Lawrence nr Ventnor.

It was a lovely sunny day and Lisle Combe is perfect for a smaller wedding.  It is still a family home, which gives it a very friendly atmosphere, whilst having views to die for and access to a small beach for those special photographs.

Judy made a lovely entrance coming down the main staircase to meet Mark, and then walking up the aisle together to the Barbara Streisand version of ‘Evergreen’.  A special request for ‘The Watermill’ was played during the signing of the register.

This is normally played on Oboe, but fits really well on Soprano Saxophone too.

After the ceremony, came the photographs, and the lawns and house provided a beautiful backdrop for these.

The wedding breakfast was accompanied by background music, with me playing out on the veranda and the music drifting in through the open patio doors.

The evening entertainment was provide by an island band called the ‘Tea and Biscuit Boys’.  They are a skiffle band that are absolutely great to see and hear live.  I was lucky enough to be asked to join in for the first dance with them.

I would certainly recommend them for any event or going to see at a local festival if you can.

It was lovely to be asked to be part of Judy and Marks special day, as they, and loads of their friends and family came and had a chat with me and made me feel very welcome, with loads of positive comments about the music too.

Also a big thank you to Ruth and Robert Noyes who own Lisle Combe who also made me feel welcome in their home.

All in all, a lovely day was had by one and all.

If you like a Rolls Royce then this is an event you shouldn’t have missed.

Yesterday at Burghley House, saw the biggest collection of Rolls Royce’s in one place. They came from all over the world and in all shapes and sizes.

In the evening, the owners clubs held a Dinner and Dance at the Peterborough Holiday Inn, with entertainment from the Uppingham Jazz and Soul Band.

we hit them with songs like, American Patrol and In the Mood, through to Mercy, Mercy, Mercy and Moondance.

They where a lively crowd and the dance floor was full for most of the night and we received some lovely feedback from the club members as we packed away.

An evening of fun was certainly had by both the Club members and the Band.

This was my first wedding on the Isle of Wight and also the first wedding at this venue since its new owners took over. What a lovely place to have your wedding celebrations at. The attention to detail is spot on with some great ideas including garden games to keep the children, both large and small entertained. Watching games of giant Jenga and connect four being played during the drinks reception was quite entertaining.

I played for both the drinks reception and the wedding breakfast including special requests for ‘Chunky’ by Bruno Mars requested by the bride and groom and the classic ‘ Careless Whisper’ from a guest.

The weather behaved itself, allowing everyone to enjoy their beautiful surroundings, and having watched the photographs being taken, I would think there where some great memories made yesterday.

The barn looked an excellent place for the evening party, and the band sounded great. So I imagine a good night was had by all.

Thank you Robin and Caroline for asking me to be part of your big day, and may I wish you all the happiness for your future together.

Now to start preparing for my next Island wedding in 2 weeks time.

Dave.

Yesterday was the first day this year that was warm enough to have part of a wedding outside.

This was Richard and Emily’s wedding reception at the Old Stable at Swithland in Leicestershire.  What a lovely place for a gathering of friends and family to wish the happy couple all the best for the future.

Thank you for asking me to be part of your special day Richard and Emily.

Best wishes

Dave

Friday was spent at the Gouldings centre in Freshwater on the Isle of Wight.

The clients there certainly enjoy a good sing along and make the contestants on Strictly come dancing look like amateurs .

The feed back was great and I hope to see you all soon.

Ps. The coconut cake was delicious. 👍
