Sunday the 8th July 2012 was the day that Mick and Sue got married at the Talbot hotel, Oundle. It was a nice sunny day and the venue was superb. The hotel had been closed for 6 months whilst it was totally refurbished, So Sue and Micks wedding was the first after the work had been done.
Its a very old hotel with lots of history involved, but the rooms they used to hold the ceremony are just right.
I played Sue down the aisle with ‘Here Comes the Bride’ and back up with the wedding march. The bride looked stunning and the groom scrubbed up well too. After the service everyone had their pictures taken and that gave me time to move to the reception area. This was held in a seperate building with its own bar downstairs, upstairs is a beautifully decorated room which I would think could sit about 35-40 people, with oak beams and a massive stone fire place.
During the meal, I was allowed free reign on the choice of music, so out came the Nat King Cole, Rat Pack and some latin numbers.
After the speeches and cake cutting, we all moved outside into the grassed courtyard area for drinks, chat and cake. This allowed me to turn it up a little without spoiling peoples conversations. The happy couple had ‘what a wonderful world’ for the first dance and ‘Blue moon’ to finish with, just as the rain came down. Perfect timing,
If the bride and groom had as much fun as I did then their day went well.
Thanks you for inviting me to play for your wedding guys and all the best for the future.
