Hi Folks
Well thats the end of my 2 weeks holiday in sunny Whitby, yes it was excellent weather. We saw 2 free jazz gigs at the Whitby pavillion. They are every Sunday lunchtime during the summer. Very good local musicians and a great setting over looking the sea.
I managed to get a practice session every day whilst my darling wife was either doing her Rosemary Connely workout or reading a book. Anyway enough of me waffling on.
The workshops have been reduced to just one due to lack of numbers, what with summer hols ect I suppose we were a bit ambitious, but this does not mean that we won’t try again at different times of the year.
The workshop is this Wednesday (18th August) at the Salvation Army Hall in South Wigston. We have got about 12 or 13 attending (still some space left for last minute delegates). We will start with a session on technique for playing and breathing amongst other things, followed by a brief history of Adolphe Sax and the Saxophone. We will then look at 5 different pieces, each one a different genre with a video showing how it should be performed. We are not letting on what the peices are as this is part of the suprise, but one piece has been especially written for the day by Chris.
We are really looking forward to getting this project off the ground and hope that it will lead to other workshops on different subjects (saxophone related of course) through out the year. We will also be looking to take the project into schools, with maybe 2 or 3 schools getting together to take advantage of the day.
If you are interested in this workshop or future dates then please let me know and I will contact you when we have some more dates.
Best wishes
Dave
